Bonobo and pals were first to kick off Boiler Room's London 2012 sessions with a Ninja Tune takeover. Most of the DJs were contributors to 'Black Sands Remixed' an album (out since yesterday) which gathered like-minded producers to re-interpret classic tracks from Bonobo's original 'Black Sands' album.

Boiler Room resident Bradley Zero started things off- followed by Blue Daisy, Lapalux and Micachu who did a surprise set- which I was so impressed by. Then DELS took to the mic before Si Bonobo smashed it...

So I started making these silly videos from the first thing that came into my mind after hearing the song. 101% FUN. No trends, no motive, no nothing. Just not a topless alt girl or rotten tree.

I get a bit restless when my inbox is aggressively promo'd by people who are as charismatic as a rusty trolley pulled out of the canal and write like they have 1st Class Honors Degree in Being Stupid. But then every now and again you get an ABSOLUTE GEM. Enter Avalon Emerson and her newest track 'Warm Up Love'...photographer of San Fran fashion boutiques by day and ultra-tropical house producer by night. Her tracks pinged up in the inbox and left us all 101% captivated and inspired.

It's so wonderful (and exotically rare!) to see a female producer coming through independently and quite clearly making music she WANTS to make, without subscribing to any stupid pigeon-holed trends. Her slightly older track 'I Happened In Mexico' kind of sounds like a stripped back version of Kerri Chandler if he had boobs and was making tunes out of a sun drenched beach hut in Hawaii. That may sound weird but its definitely a compliment! So folks, I can't recommend a trip to her tropical boudoir (aka Soundcloud) enough.

I mean really, you know this girls got a mind of solid gold when her Soundcloud blurb reads like this:

This one makes me feel like I'm floating in some weird space with a bunch of jellyfish after losing all sense of my body weight.

And this...oh this...(give me a second whilst I unpeel myself from the groove)...I just can't resist this sweeping, euphoric sample from Pepe Bradock house masterpiece Deep Burnt which was taken by Le Loup and brushed over with a nice glaze of vocal weirdness for the Wolf + Lamb release 'Significant Others Too' a couple of years back...it makes me want to jump on an airplane simply to drive around Manhattan at night with my head stuck out of the sun roof totally blissing out.

In generations to come people might look back to Boiler Room and herald it as a defining part of the current eras underground music scene. But I'm not going to lie, I've never really got that submerged in it. I wouldn't put it down to being a hater, more my appalling concentration span and my love for underrated things...(sort of like Leprechaun In The Hood). However I love Illum Sphere and his colossal monthly night Hoya Hoya in Manchester and well, this mix just speaks for itself. A stunning medley of 'old' music as part of the Boiler Room's 'Nothing New' theme, mixed together with finesse. In his own words - “A collection of musics with a romantic edge made before I was born.”

British Remains consistently put out simple and interesting T-shirts. I am a fan of their new set, a collaboration with Japan's Uniform looking commenting on mundane life. The typeface looks like Johnston (What TFL iconically uses) though I could be wrong. It would be in keeping with their idiosyncratic patriotism.

The Copson Street familia are definitely all freaks when it comes to sneaks...or (discreetly dusts slang dictionary off) kicks, creps, trainers....Following on from yesterdays post about mind-boggling hard to find shops, smallfeetbigkicks is the bi-polar opposite. Sat right on your e-Doorstep, they aim to supply rare and favorite kicks to the small footed - from Nike to New Balance to Vans and back around again. I can probably name about five people off the top of my head who will think that all their birthdays, Christmases and wedding days when I tell them about this...an absolute lifesaver if you get frogmarched to the kids section every time you visit Foot Locker....

The smallfeetbigkicks mission statement is delightfully straightforward:

"This website is very simple: We like trainers, but in our experience, we’ve noticed that if you’ve got small feet, its pretty hard to get NICE trainers. and when you can find them, they’re expensive! We’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, but we didn’t. It’s time now though, and we’ve got a silly amount of shoes to get the ball rolling, so were on a mission to: a) bring you a decent selection of kicks for smaller feet (UK1-7ish). b) smash everyone else’s prices!
